Fatwa Question or Essay Title:
Sayyad Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah of Lebanon succinctly answers: "What is the religious hijab? What is its importance?"

The hijab is a protection for women and their bodies against those who have inordinate desires. It adds human value to women and restricts their sexual desire to the matrimonial bed. The hijab should cover the entire body except for the face, hands and feet. Clothes should not be suggestive in color or shape.
