PESHAWAR – Swat-based militants claimed responsibility for the slaying of scholar and Swat University vice-chancellor (VC) Dr. Mohammad Farooq Khan.
"He was involved in propaganda against Taliban. He also wrote against us in his books," Omar Hassan Turabi, spokesman for the Swat-based Taliban, said. He also denounced Farooq for heading a government university in the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP)'s former headquarters, Imam Dherai, Mingora.
District police officer Mardan Waqif Khan said police had made some arrests. "We are looking into different angles," he said.
