Faisal Mawlawi

Sheikh Faysal Mawlawi, (b. 1941, Tripoli, Northern Lebanon) is the deputy head of the European Council for Fatwa and Research. He obtained a Bachelors degree in law from Lebanon University in 1967 and a Bachelors in Islamic Law at Damascus University, Faculty of Sharia in 1968, after which he was appointed a legal judge in the sharia court in Beirut.

He received a diploma of advanced studies from the Sorbonne in Paris, France, played a role in establishing the Islamic Association in Paris, and helped to found the European College for Islamic Studies. In 1997 he played a vital role in the establishment of the European Council for Fatwa and Research based in Dublin, Ireland under the leadership of Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi.
