Muhammad Abu Al-Isaad Al-Alam

Sheikh Muhammad Abu Al-Isaad Al-Alam was a religious jurist from a prominent family. Italians appointed him as the Mufti of Tripolitania (year not found). Later, He was also appointed chairman of the preparatory committee of 21 to set the agenda for the national constitutional convention to implement the national assembly in 1950. In the same year the assembly declared Libya as a federal constitutional monarchy. In 1951 the committee drafted the constitution of Libya and in December 24, 1951 Libya was declared as a sovereign state. There are some allegations reported by the Libyan Historian of Faraj Abdul Aziz Na’m against the Mufti for being supportive of the Italians and issuing fatwa for their support.
