Salman bin Fahd bin Abd Allah al-Oadah, (b. 1956, al-Basr, a village on the outskirts of the city of Buraydah in Saudi Arabia) received a PhD from Imam Muhammad bin Sa’ud University (2003).
He was imprisoned from 1994 to 1999 for opposing the presence of U.S. troops in the Kingdom during the first Gulf War and supporting jihad against American troops in Iraq. Upon release he resumed teaching activities from his home. In a shift of ideology, Al-Odah now says he believes that extremists obscure the message of religion. In 2008 al-Oadah forcefully reprimanded Osama bin Laden on MBC, Middle East Broadacsting), where he hosts live talk shows on Islamic and social issues. He has published extensively, and many of his volumes are available on the Arabic portol of www.islamtoday.net.
