The Building and Development Party is an Islamist political party officially established on June 21 2011, as the political party of the Islamic Shura Council. In their founding statement the party asserted that they take Shari’a Law as a foundation for their work. Some of the goals that the party seeks to achieve are maintaining the Islamic and Arab identity of Egypt and fighting all attempts to replace Islamic values with western and secular values with ones. Their statement stresses peaceful working methods, as well as respect for others’ opinions to achieve these objectives.
