La Presse (Tunisia)

This daily French language newspaper is circulated widely in Tunisia in print and available online. Printed in the capital city, Tunis, the paper was founded in 1936. Though it served as the mouthpiece of deposed president Ben Ali’s regime, in the post-revolutionary era it has allegedly moved towards editorial independence. Much of its press coverage of the pre-election period has favored a handful of parties, and it remains generally sympathetic to the transitional government, in particular to outspoken transitional prime minister Béji Caïd Essebsi. Its editorial bent is arguably pro-secular parties and anti-Ennadha.
